PRESS RELEASE

Spirit of America Spotlights a Stellar (And Unfairly Maligned) Glenn Appointee

October 12, 2024

RICHMOND, VA – Following unfair social media attacks leveled at our friend Rooz Dadabhoy this week by RadioIQs very own attack dog Brad Kutner, we at Spirit of America thought it necessary to come to Ms. Dadabhoy’s defense. We refuse to stand idly by while reporters fact-check, nitpick, and unfairly criticize a public servant for merely asking questions.

It all started when Kutner accused Ms. Dadabhoy of spreading misinformation about the federal response to Hurricane Helene.

Since when are simple AI images “misinformation”? Sure, we can all acknowledge that Ms. Dadabhoy was fooled by an AI image of a child crying amidst flood waters. But she then used that image to speak to a larger truth about society. Even if the photo was fake, and even if Ms. Dadabhoy’s conclusion was less than accurate, and even if that conclusion misled people, it also made them think, and that’s the most important part.

Besides, when did it become her job to fact check any and everything she finds on the internet? She’s a member of Virginia Commonwealth University Board of Visitors, appointed by the Governor with fiduciary, ethical, and governance-related responsibilities. Do we really expect Ms. Dadabhoy to second guess everything she posts?

Hardly. We said it before and we’ll say it again: we need more folks like her making decisions at our universities. Folks who refuse to bend the knee, even when confronted by leftist “facts.”

Of course, being the anti-woke champion that she is, it should come as no surprise that the media has been coming after her since she was first appointed to the VCU Board of Visitors in 2023.

Does anyone think “Anti-critical race theory campaign staffer” is an insult? This all comes back to what we said before: Ms. Dadabhoy may have gotten a few things mixed up about when and where critical race theory is actually being taught, but her mistaken criticisms of CRT make a larger point. They make people think

No wonder Glenn appointed her to the VCU Board of Visitors!

So RINOs can whine in lefty outlets like the Richmond Times-Dispatch about the need to remove partisanship from the appointment process all they want, but the truth is, today’s students need a little less “truth” and a lot more “belief.”

Whether it’s AI images or CRT, we can count on Rooz Dadabhoy, your friend and mine, to push back, disrupt, and remind us all that we shouldn’t listen to highly-educated “experts” or well-respected “reporters.” If something feels wrong, listen to your gut and let the pinhead fact-checkers sort it out later.
