RICHMOND, VA – Spirit of America, the under-the-radar group established to help catapult Glenn Youngkin from Richmond to the White House, released a statement today in reaction to a recent CNN interview in which Glenn masterfully defended President Trump against bogus claims, in-context quotes, and partisan fact checking.
We here at Spirit of America have been focused on other matters, including the sham voting rights lawsuit against Glenn and celebrating one of his stellar appointees. Even so, we felt it was our journalistic responsibility to go on the record and lend our voice to the chorus of support Glenn has received.
Here is our statement in full:
“The failing New York Times may try to twist Donald Trump’s words to imply that he would deploy the military against American citizens who disagree with him, but we all know this is utter nonsense.
Trump’s actual words were far less inflammatory. While on Fox News, he merely identified those who oppose him as “the enemy within,” citing “radical left lunatics” who “should be handled very easily by, if necessary, by National Guard, or if really necessary, by the military.”
These are the words of a strong, competent leader, not the evil boogeyman the left is so obsessed with. Even John Kelly, Trump’s former Chief of Staff, has fallen victim to Trump Derangement Syndrome, laughably claiming that Trump met the definition of a fascist, would govern like a dictator, and wished for the kind of generals Hitler had.
Nothing troubling about that. After all, who doesn’t want loyal employees? Folks who are willing to just follow orders without hesitation?
Luckily, Glenn galloped to the defense of the once and future President on CNN, clarifying for low IQ Jake Tapper who Trump was really referring to. Glenn set the record straight, calmly explaining that Trump was referring to illegal immigrants in his remarks, not actual American citizens.
“It’s all around the fact that we have had an unprecedented number of illegal immigrants come over the border in an unrestrained fashion,” Glenn said, leaving Tapper stunned by just how much sense he was making.
And when Tapper attempted to bully Glenn into denouncing Trump’s remarks, Glenn refused to take the bait, reverting instead to the facts: illegal immigrants, not American citizens, were the true target of Trump’s ire.
Soon after Glenn’s CNN victory lap, Trump asserted that he was definitely talking about “sick and evil” American citizens who need to be “handled” by the military, going on to cite specific members of Congress. But as Glenn instructed, we should know that when Trump says “the enemy within,” it’s really code for “illegal immigrants.”
As the Commonwealth’s resident Trump whisperer, we would love to see Glenn back on a national news outlet, taking another well-earned victory lap and further clarifying these statements!”
